Reclaim is a social enterprise dedicated to transforming waste management practices starting in Uganda
By empowering waste pickers, providing fair wages, and training, we address the challenges of unfair remuneration, stigmatization, and unsafe working conditions faced by this marginalized group. The result of this intervention with waste pickers is the development of a sustainable and reliable recyclable waste management distribution network. Reclaim establishes a sustainable distribution network for recyclable materials, promoting a circular economy and reducing waste pollution. This initiative contributes to a more equitable future, offering valuable employment opportunities in a country with a high youth unemployment rate. Drawing inspiration from global examples, Reclaim recognizes the significant role waste pickers play in waste management and aims to create a sustainable and efficient system that benefits both waste pickers and the environment.
